What is EKODOME®?

EKODOME® is a new geodesic dome frame design that allows you to build better spaces to live. With our custom design aluminum profiles, one can quickly build multipurpose spaces and cover the dome frame with any solid panel or membranes.

Ekodome® is a  DIY geodome building kit. Our designs make it easier for everyone to build multipurpose structures and cover them with any preferred material. 

As Ekodome®, we design and manufacture DIY geodesic dome kits, not only because they are visually appealing, but also they have ultimate architectural benefits, and have great potential in creating cities of the future.

Why Ekodome®?

Covering the geodesic dome frames built with flat surface struts is a challenge for dome builders.

The drawback is the irregular angles of the interconnecting surfaces. Without manipulating the surface angles of the struts, placing solid panels precisely on them is not possible due to the geodesic dome’s mathematics.

Our geodesic dome frame design allows you to build multipurpose structures easily, with a superior flexibility to cover the structure with any preferred material. The aluminum shell makes the structure lightweight enough to make it portable and strong enough to make it everlasting. Besides, the embedded components make your dome resistant to all types of weather. This all-in-one solution is designed and manufactured to build habitats of the future.

EKODOME® KEY FEATURES

SUSTAINABLE STRUCTURE:
100% Recyclable Aluminum Profiles

We chose aluminum, a 100% recyclable and sustainable metal for our frames. It takes up to 95% less energy to recycle it than to produce primary aluminum, limiting emissions, including greenhouse gases. Today, about 75% of all aluminum produced in history, nearly a billion tons, is still used. You can demount and reinstall this everlasting frame for years.

READY TO MOUNT ANY SOLID PANEL:
Precision Extruded Frame Elements

We have designed our frames ready to mount triangular panels cut out of any material. Our patent-pending T profile aluminum struts extruded at multiple angles unites with aluminum hubs perfectly. Wood, metal, plexiglass, aluminum, plywood, composite, biocomposite, recycled plastic, or any variants of these solid panels will fit perfectly as the covering material.

WEATHERPROOF:
Integrated EPDM Seal

From the very beginning, we aimed for a watertight structure when the panels were installed correctly. We made our profile design accordingly. An EPDM seal (with biodegradable elements added if possible) with superior resistance to heat, water, ozone, UV, and weather conditions will be provided with the frame kit. We also made room on the profile for those who prefer to use silicone or similar sealants.

LIGHTWEIGHT & STURDY:
High Strength to Weight Ratio

Aluminum is one of the lightest engineering metals, having the strength to weight ratio superior to steel. Our frame strength comes from not only precision-cut durable aluminum profiles but also from the solid panels you can easily mount. We designed the struts to hold panel thicknesses up to 0,78 inches with +50% tolerance.

Geodesic Dome Cabin

This is designed with Ekodome® TERRA, a 3V frequency dome, an ideal size for a cabin and weekend rental with a floor area of 366 sq.ft, and a possibility to include a loft area with a height of 13′ 1 31/64″.

A Greenhouse (with aquaponics)

This aquaponics greenhouse is built with an EKODOME® COSMOS geodesic dome frame system, while the renewable energy station is made with an EKODOME® SEED dome frame.

Solar panels and vertical wind turbine-powered pumps provide energy to the system to recycle water and nutrients in a closed-loop system that provides productive and sustainable food production.
